An altimeter is an absolutely life-preserving must for every parachutist. Large numbers of walkers, mountaineers and orienteerers are also very enthusiastic about this highly practical and useful companion. 

Most modern altimeters function electronically and are very reliable. Thanks to their ultra-compact construction, today´s altimeters are no larger than a watch and can be worn comfortably on the wrist. 

Some of these instruments offer additional features such as a compass, barometer, stopwatch etc.
