Compasses
THE MOST IMPORTANT NAVIGATION INSTRUMENT FOR CENTURIES
At the start of the 15th century, European seafarers first mounted a dry compass needle with a compass card into a fixed housing and fixed this revolutionary device to their ships. Leonardo da Vinci subsequently developed cardanic suspension for compass needles, which increased
their accuracy considerably, and which played a decisive role in the success of European fleets in the sixteenth century.
We stock the latest generation of compasses in practical outdoor versions as well as beautifully constructed nostalgic products made of brass and wood.
